5118QKTPK7L._SL500_AA300_.jpgIn honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day today, The Huffington Post ran a story on the the best books about MLK and his legacy.  They selected nine books, any of which would make a great addition to your book club's reading list, though I especially like the idea of reading his story from Coretta Scott King's perspective.

It's important that we don't lose the stories of our past and of the heroes who have changed our present and what better place than book club to talk about these kinds of topics.  You might even do several different historical biographies in that vain.  Perhaps a presidential biography or two - or flip it around and read about some of the "bad guys".  Another idea would be to do a series on important figures in history from the perspective of their wives (or husbands)!

So, go historical as you make your selections this year - you might see things in a whole new light!
